1. Explore the options

Do you want the warmth and feel of a carpet. Is it a busy space? Would a hardwood floor be a more practical options? Or would Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) or perhaps a laminate work for the space?

2. Appreciate your senses

Once you have decided on the type of flooring best suits your needs, now is the time to think about colour and design. If you are starting from scratch it’s probably best to decide on your flooring first and decorate from there. 3. Size up your interiors

Measure up your space so you can get price estimates. When you are making your final choice book a free measure from our experienced team who can give you the exact dimensions of your space so you can chose the perfect product for your home.

4. Know Your Budget

Everyone needs to think about price. Your available budget will help guide you to the product that right for you. 100% wool carpets come top of the list when it comes to costs but there are plenty of variations from there. Synthetic fibres can make for a long wearing and more easily cleaned carpet. Don’t forget to ask if there might be remnants or ends of roll that might work for smaller space too. LVT come in a massive range of styles and can make the effect of stone or wood floors achievable even with a poor sub floor. When it comes to wood floors – engineered floors are generally more costly than laminate but the quality of laminate products improves each year.

5. Love your choice

Once you have made the right choice for your home and budget if possible take a sample home and live with it for a day or two so you can really see how your choice will be at different times of the day in your space. It’s your home – do it your way!

6. Get in the professionals

FAQs

What is the right floor choice for a kitchen?

For a kitchen we’d always suggest going for a hard floor. If you want the look of wood we’d recommend more a water resistant veneer or a wood effect Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT). We also stock some wonderful stone effect LVTs which have the effect of stone but are so much easier to clean.

What it the perfect floor for a hallway?

What really comes down to choice. There are some wonderful hardwearing carpet options designed for areas which take a lot of foot traffic. Hardwood and Laminate can look great in a hallway and are easy to maintain with a little care. Or look at our range of LVT options – there are limitless styles to suit all homes. So explore the options knowing that there will be a product available to deliver the look you want.

What is the right size and shape of rug to go under my dining table?

As a general rule of thumb the shape of the table leads the shape of the rug. So if it’s a rectangular table we’d suggest a rectangular or square rug, for an oval table and oval rug might look best. Measure your table and add about 2 feet to each measurement to get the size of the best rug for that table. The 2 feet extra are so the chair can be pulled out and still be on the rug.

Is there a carpet you’d recommended for a children’s playroom?

Absolutely… there are lots of great carpet options for a playroom. As a playroom is going to take a lot of wear and tear plus mess we’d suggest a very easy to clean synthetic carpet. Look for options that a hardwearing ; look for brands like Abingdon Stain Free for a carpet that are more than up to the task. We also have a selection of carpets that can even be cleaned with bleach, like the Cormar Apollo Plus range.

What should I look for in a bedroom carpet?

Lots of people choose carpet for their bedroom. It looks luxurious and creates a warmth that is hard to replicate. Carpet in the bedroom can help with noise reduction on the floor below. With a bedroom – shoes are usually off so you can be a little more adventurous with colour choices, you can go for a paler colour than might be practical in a busy living room or hallway. So it’s just a case of choosing a style and colour that fits your mood.
